Indigenous Youth Mobility Program

The Indigenous Youth Mobility Program is part of the Australian Government’s 'A Better Future for Indigenous Australians - opportunities for education' commitment.

The program assists young people aged 16-24 from remote areas to relocate to one of the IYMP Host Locations to complete the qualifications they need to obtain sustainable employment.

Job Services Australia

Job Services Australia provides tailored employment assistance to all job seekers, including young job seekers.

Job seekers aged under 21 can be eligible for the full range of Job Services Australia services regardless of whether they are receiving Centrelink payments.

Job Services Australia providers work with eligible job seekers to develop an individually tailored Employment Pathway Plan. The plan maps out the training, work experience and additional assistance needed to find job seekers sustainable employment.

Employment Pathway Fund

The Employment Pathway Fund can be used to buy a broad range of goods and services to provide training and equip job seekers for employment, or to help them with personal barriers that might prevent them from getting a job.

Young people facing personal barriers (such as homelessness, drug and alcohol issues or mental health problems) may also be able to directly register with a Job Services Australia provider for immediate access to the highest level of assistance.

Green Corps

Green Corps activities offer development and environmental training positions to job seekers, as a work experience option under Job Services Australia.

Green Corps activities provide participants with opportunities to get involved in community based projects. The focus is to preserve, conserve and restore Australia’s natural environment and cultural heritage, with an added focus on water and climate change - while contributing to the wellbeing of the community.

Job seekers participating in Green Corps activities can undertake accredited and on-the-project training courses in horticulture, conservation, and land management, which can improve career and employment prospects.

Harvest trail

The harvest trail offers young people a way to finance travel around Australia.

Get fit and enjoy a healthy lifestyle as you pick grapes in Berri, apples in Orange, or mangoes in Darwin. The opportunities are endless, and you can build up valuable work experience.

If you are from Australia, you are eligible for placement into work through the Harvest Labour Service – whether or not you are registered as a job seeker with Centrelink or receiving income support payments.

If you are from overseas, you need a valid visa to allow you to work in Australia.

National Green Jobs Corps

The National Green Jobs Corps program gives young job seekers an opportunity to develop skills by doing work experience in new green and climate change industries.

National Green Jobs Corps provides eligible 17-24 year olds the opportunity to work on projects that focus on conservation, protection and rejuvenation of Australia's natural environment and cultural heritage. Participants are offered a combination of work experience, skill development and accredited training.

Australian Youth Forum

The Australian Youth Forum (AYF) is run by the Australian Government as a communication channel between the Government, young people (aged 15 – 24) and the organisations that work with, for and on behalf of young people (also known as the youth sector).

It is about engaging young people and the youth sector in ongoing public debate, and getting their input to policy and decision making on issues that affect young people’s lives now and in the future.
